First exhibited in 'Primavera' at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney in 2003, 'Kickflipper: Fragments Edit', poetically depicts the artist in a skateboard dance, against the backdrop of Bondi Beach.

Produced just after 'Storm Sequence' (2000), 'Kickflipper: Fragments Edit' displays the freshness, spontaneity and skill that initially grabbed our attention to this young artist and assisted the change in how Australian private collectors viewed and displayed video art in general.

'Gladwell - once a painter - says he wants his work to operate 'like moving paintings', and indeed references to art history are scattered throughout his practice.' (D Palmer http://www.frieze.com/issue/review/shaun_gladwell/)

Another edition number of this work is held in the National Gallery of Australia's collection.
